A needle in a haystack

Another beautiful December Summer day in the southern hemisphere. Kirk and I were sitting in another cafe in Manly, Sydney's beach area across the harbor.

A young woman was our waitress and gave us most kind attention. We immediately noticed her accent was not Australian and sounded a lot like us. Upon inquiring her nationality, she informed us she was Canadian from Vancouver.

While giving us our check she said, "Wait, I know you guys."

How would she know us, we wondered.

"Were you guys in Vancouver about a year ago?" she asked us.

Well, yes, we were in Vancouver last July for my birthday.

"Yeah, I remember you guys now. I waited on you in Vancouver where I was working at the time."

Wow. I couldn't believe it. What are the chances of that happening?

After giving her a generous tip, I said to her:

"Well, maybe we'll see you in Hong Kong next."
